Motoko License Agreement

Upon purchase, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Motoko source code. This license allows:

• Unlimited projects
• Personal projects
• Commercial projects
• Modification of the source code for your projects
• Use of the resulting applications for commercial purposes

You may not:

You own the applications you build with Motoko. Motoko itself remains the intellectual property of Motoko. The license grants usage rights; it does not transfer ownership of the original Motoko boilerplate.

• Resell Motoko itself
• Redistribute Motoko as a standalone boilerplate, template, or starter kit
• Publish the complete Motoko source code publicly
• Create a competing boilerplate or template product primarily based on Motoko
• Sublicense or transfer the Motoko license
• Sell individual Motoko components as a standalone product when substantially derived from Motoko

Motoko and its original source code remain the intellectual property of Motoko. A license grants usage rights but does not transfer ownership of the original boilerplate. Third-party libraries included with or used by Motoko remain subject to their respective licenses.

This license is not limited to a single project. You may use Motoko to build unlimited personal and commercial applications, subject to the restrictions above.

Purchasers receive lifetime updates provided for the Motoko product. Lifetime updates do not mean that every future Motoko product or separately sold Motoko offering is automatically included.

Motoko includes or integrates with third-party open-source software and services. Those dependencies are governed by their respective licenses and terms. Your use of those dependencies must comply with those licenses in addition to this Agreement.

The software is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Motoko and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from your use of Motoko. Motoko's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to this Agreement or your purchase is limited to the amount you paid for Motoko, if any.

This license continues unless terminated. Motoko may terminate this license if you materially violate the restrictions in this Agreement and fail to cure the violation within a reasonable period after notice, where cure is possible. Upon termination for material violation, you must stop redistributing Motoko in ways prohibited by this Agreement. Termination does not automatically require you to destroy applications you already built for your own use, except where continued use would itself violate the restrictions.

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory protections in your place of residence apply.
